Swansea vs Manchester United
The side from the South coast of Wales go into this match looking for two things, 1. to steal a point; 2. try to ensure they don’t get battered. Manchester United are the firm favorites going into this second week clash. The Red Devils looked solid in their 4-0 home win against West Ham and they did not even seem to hit top gear. Swansea are a team that many people have predicated to go down.
The ‘little’ Armenian had 2 assists and set up a total of 6 chances for his lethal teammates against West Ham. Expect more of the same from Miki as he looks to set up Lukaku and Rashford.
Probably the only slam dunk prediction of the weekend, I think that United have to much class going into this game, a comfortable 3-0 win for the Red Devils.
Liverpool vs Crystal Palace
Yet another game that looks like an easy home win on paper, however, Crystal Palace are looking to become the first team to win 4 straight EPL games at Anfield. Yes, Liverpool last won a game against Palace at home on the 5th of October 2013. Expect a high scoring affair, the two teams have scored 39 goals in their last 10 games against each other in all competitions.
Benteke has 5 goals in 3 games at Anfield as an opposition player, he will surely look to extend the run and help Palace score their first goal of the season.
Palace lost 3-0 to Huddersfield in the first week, I don’t think they have the quality to beat Liverpool and extend their run to 4 wins, I do think they will score so I shall go with a 3-2 Liverpool win.
Stoke vs Arsenal
Stoke has been a difficult place for Arsene Wenger and his team to play at, they only have the 1 win in 7 games at the bet365 Stadium. Arsenal will be boosted by the return of Mustafi and Coquelin while Mertesacker could return from injury. Stoke signed former Real Madrid forward Jese this week, becoming the team with most Champions League winners in their side (6). Koscielny is still serving a suspension and will most likely miss out. Alexis is still an Arsenal player with less than 2 weeks left in the transfer window.
Kolasinac had a solid outing versus Leicester where he set up a goal for Danny Welbeck. The wing back has been really good in preseason and had a fantastic outing in his first EPL game.
Stoke were beaten by a good Everton side last time out while Arsenal just barely made it over the line to beat Leicester City. I see this being a tough outing for the gunners and that could reflect on the score line, I am going for a 2-2 draw.
Tottenham Hotspurs vs Chelsea
Antonio Conte and the rest of Chelsea had a weekend to forget when they played Burnley at Stamford Bridge, they lost 2 key players, Gary Cahill and Cesc Fabregas to red cards and are already without Hazard, Pedro, Bakayoko and Diego Costa. The Blues already have a small squad this season and these injures/suspensions will not help. I think we could see David Luiz start in midfield for the Blues. Spurs on the other hand could not have asked for a better time to play Chelsea, it’s the first game at Wembley for them (in the league) and it is a derby match. Delle Alli and Eriksen started the season in fine form while Harry Kane is yet to break his August curse.
The Spurs front line is going to get chances, it is going to be up to the big Belgian to ensure he keeps his side in the game with a shout. His role is going to be more important than ever and it is time for him to show if he is up for the challenge or not.
Due to the teams involved this is a hard game to predict, I think Chelsea are in a bad run and that will continue, I see them being 6 points off the top by the end of this weekend. I am going for a 3-1 Spurs win with Harry Kane breaking his August Curse.
Manchester City vs Everton
Manchester City will look to make it 2 wins out of 2 to ensure they do not fall behind the likes of Spurs, Arsenal and Manchester United. Everton have failed to win in 6 against City at the Etihad, however, Everton did smash them 4-0 in their last meeting. Should a good end to end game that will be entertaining for all neutrals.
Wayne Rooney would love to score against Manchester City and take his career EPL tally up to 200, the only player who has scored more goals than him, Alan Shearer, is also the only player to score more versus City (11 vs Rooney’s 8).
City are a strong team that will look to build on their win last week, while Everton got the boost of making yet another signing this window. City have just that little bit more in terms of class and I see them winning this game, 2-1 to City.
