The Invincible’s round 2? (La Liga and Bundesliga Preview)

The Bundesliga

The Bundesliga gets back into full swing later tonight with defending champions, Bayern Munich, taking on Leverkusen. Many are predicting that this season is not going to be as easy as the last few for Bayern, however, I disagree. Sure, there will be a few tricky ties, but I do not see Bayern facing any issues in retaining the title. Sure, teams like Dortmund, Leipzig, Hoffenheim and Schalke 04 would like to stake a claim at the title. However, I think Leipzig and Hoffenheim will struggle with the 2 games a week (Bundesliga + UCL), they will do well but not well enough. A key for RBL will be if they can hold on to Naby Keita, who has been a target for teams like Liverpool. I think the top four will be

  1. Bayern
  2. Dortmund
  3. Hoffenheim
  4. Schalke 04

La Liga

The Neymar saga was the saga of the summer, the transfer of the decade. He has left a massive gaping hole of the left wing of an aging Barcelona squad. Going into the season, Barcelona have signed just Gerrard Deulofeu, Semedo and Paulinho for the first team. They haven’t really become a stronger team and this was reflected in their Spanish Super Cup matches against Real Madrid. Barcelona were truly awful in all areas of the pitch and Pique came out and talked about how his team is weaker than Real Madrid for the first time in almost a decade.

Speaking of the Los Blancos, they go into the season as the strongest team in the land, probably in the world. I honestly believe, if Barcelona do not sign anybody significant (Coutinho or someone at his level), in the next 13 days, Real Madrid could have an unbeaten season in front of them. This team that Zidane has, is a winning team; under Zizou, Real Madrid have lost just 7 games. They have 7 titles in the same time. This team is firm favorites to win the league but I think they will go one step further and do it without a loss. The team I haven’t spoken about yet is Atletico Madrid. They are moving into a new stadium this season and will have to settle in there. I think that they will do well for themselves as the best of the rest.

  1. Real Madrid
  2. Barcelona
  3. Atletico Madrid
  4. Sevilla

While I am talking about clubs from Spain, I think Madrid will be targeting a treble. They have never completed the treble in their club’s history and will be looking to become the 8th side in history to complete this feat.
