Chelsea FC have announced the sale of Diego Costa to Atletico Madrid. Chelsea have named Costa in their EPL squad but not their UEFA Champions League squad, therefore Costa would be eligible to play for them in the Champions League should they progress beyond the group stages. Costa is going to be reuinted with his old manager, Diego Simeone. (pictured below)
Liverpool vs Burnley 9/16/2017
Liverpool host Burnley after the heavy defeat at the hands of Manchester City and a draw at home against Sevilla in the Champions League. Coutinho made his debut for the season in the draw versus Sevilla off the bench in a very disappointing game, Liverpool had a missed penalty and were 100% the better side, they just were unable to convert at the end of the night. Going into this without Mane, they will want a response and expect one, I think a comfortable home win is on the cards.
Watford vs Manchester City 9/16/2017
Not sure why I am even talking about this game, City have been one of the power teams in Europe this week, 5-0 versus Liverpool, and a 4-0 away win in the champions league rounds off a solid week for the Citizens. Expect a win, expect a big win. Aguero and Jesus. Lethal.
Spurs vs Swansea 9/16/2017
Spurs finally have their home win, and it was a statement win. The Lillywhites got their first home win of the season, and more importantly at Wembley against Dortmund in the Champions League. Considering they are in the group of death, those 3 points are worth their weight in gold. A win against the inconsistent swans, 2 home wins and suddenly the Wembley blues will go away. Kane is back in form and expect him to score a goal again. Spurs to win.
Chelsea vs Arsenal 9/17/2017
Easily the game of the weekend, we see Chelsea host the Gunners, Chelsea smashed Qarab in the Champions League while Arsenal’s result is unknown to me as I type this article on a Thursday morning. Arsenal come into this game on swinging form. Should be a fun game to watch for everyone but don’t expect much from Arsenal. Chelsea are on form right now and expect a decent performance by the blues. A Chelsea win is on the cards.
Manchester United vs Everton 9/17/2017
United welcome home a United Legend, a drunk driver and a divorce lawyers’ future client, Wayne Rooney. Unfortunately for Rooney, it doesn’t look like Everton can play decent football right now. United had a comfortable champions league win, though they did see Pogba limp off with injury. Everton have a Europa League tie, but again, I don’t know the result just yet. Should be a simple home win, and expect it to be an interesting tie. In EPL history, Man Utd have 33 wins against Everton, only trumped by United’s 34 versus Aston Villa being a better record. A long list of players face their former club in this match, Lukaku, Fellaini, Rooney, Schneiderlin and Micheal Keane to name a few. Expect a home win.
Manchester City vs Liverpool (Watched by NAFB)
Manchester City 5 – 0 Liverpool
City started the game with both Aguero and Jesus up front while Liverpool brought back Mingolet for Karius.
The game started off asa back and forth, exciting game. A fantastic through ball from Kevin De Bruyne led to an opener for Sergio Aguero. After an exciting start, the game was effectively killed as a contest when Sadio Mane was sent off in the 37th minute for a scary tackle on Ederson, the City goalkeeper. To be fair to Mane, if Ederson tagged Mane first, he would have been the player getting sent off. A 9 and a half minute long stoppage due to the injury, saw Ederson get stretchered off. Jesus got his first off the night shortly after the injury stoppage. In the second half Klopp brought off Salah for the Ox. Goals from Jesus and 2 from substitute Sane rounded off a 5-0 win for City. The scoreline was not reflective of the first 37 minutes as that was a much more enjoyable (for the neutral) game to watch.
City also had 2 goals denied for offside.
The game had potential to be a cracker but it ended up being a complete bore due to the red card to Mane.
Man of the Match
Kevin De Bruyne was absolute class and deserves the man of the match.
Liverpool and City both have Champions League matches coming up, Liverpool host Sevilla while City travel to Feyenord. Next in the EPL, they Liverpool face Burnley at home while City travel to Watford.
Arsenal vs Bournemouth (Watched by NAFB)
Arsenal 3 – 0 Bournemouth
Wenger goes into this game knowing his head is on the chopping block with just 3 points from 3 games. Lacazette came back into the line up for Alexis while Kolasinac and Mustafi also got a start.
Arsenal started the game really well with a goal for Danny Welbeck with an assist for Kolasinac. That tends to happen when players actually play in their real position. Surely game over now with Lacazette getting a goal as well, Danny Welbeck with the assist. Awful defending from Bournemouth, could have been 3-0 to Arsenal if not for Begovic, who ends up blocking a Lacazette attempt, in the process the ball actually deflates.
Second Half, Aaron Ramsey fakes a shot, plays it to Danny Welbeck who puts it in far post, 3-0. Welbeck has 2 goals and an assist.
Arsenal will be happy with this performance but can they sustain it over the season?
Man of the Match
Danny Welbeck was the difference, involved in the first three goals and looked good.
Arsenal have a Europa League fixture versus Koln at home and then they face Chelsea away next weekend. Burnley face Liverpool away.
Everton vs Tottenham Hotspur
Everton 0 – 3 Tottenham Hotspur
The drunk driver, Wayne Rooney and the flipper of the bird Dele Alli both started for the respective clubs, Harry Kane hopes to score his first goal of the season.
There we go, Harry Kane has his first EPL goal of the season, a fantastic fluke, it is his 100th goal for Spurs. Eriksen nets the second of the game, turning out to be a lot easier than expected for Spurs. Kane gets another in the second half, 0 goals in August, 2 goals in less than 60 minutes in September. Surely game over. Everton are in trouble because they now have Manchester United next and they look awful.
Man of the Match
Harry Kane came alive today, well deserved.
Spurs have a Champions League fixture versus Dortmund at home, Everton travel to Italy to face Atlanta in the Europa League. Next up in the league, Spurs host Swansea while Everton have the massive task of facing Manchester United at Old Trafford.
Leicester City vs Chelsea
Leicester City 1 – 2 Chelsea
Chelsea welcome Eden Hazard back but he only makes the bench, new signing Danny Drinkwater is on the bench for Chelsea against his former club.
Slimani came dangerously close to scoring, only to be denied by Courtouis. Morata gets the opener through a lovely header, great ball by Azpilicueta.
Kante has a pop from around 35 or so yards, ball essentially rolls into the back of the net. Horrific goalkeeping from Kasper Schmeichel. The former Leicester City man gets his first league goal since scoring against Man Utd last season. Chelsea look good for their first September win in almost 4 years. Oh interesting, Courtouis concedes a penalty to Vardy who safely tucks it away. Good game for Chelsea, Leicster tried to get back into the game unsuccessfully.
Man of the Match
Morata scored yet another and got the Blues going. Diego Costa who?
Chelsea face Qarabag in the Champions League and Arsenal next week in the league, while Leicester play Huddersfield away.
Stoke City vs Manchester United (Watched by NAFB)
Stoke City 2 – 2 Manchester United
Couple of changes for the Red Devils, Darmian and Herrera come in for Blind and Mata, looks like Pogba will be playing a more attacking role today. United haven’t won a match at Stoke since Sir Alex took charge and they would like to end that run today.
United haven’t been pressed by Stoke over the last few minutes, they’ve had most of the ball so far. United have almost 75% of the ball in the first 15 minutes. Stoke have spent the majority of the first have clearing the ball and sitting back as Manchester United have had almost all of the ball, Valencia has been fantastic for United today. What has been interesting to note, considering the physical size of Manchester United, they have yet to play a corner directly into the box, they’ve all been played short so far. Very curious tactic. Stoke have their goal! It is the first time United have conceded this season, great finish by Choupo-Moting. That dance right after was better than that finish. Jose has his wish, his side are now behind. Lets see how they do now. There it is, United play a corner into the box for the first time tonight and Pogba puts it in, instant response by United. Looks like Matic got a glancing flick near post. Oh wait it bounced of Rashfor on it’s way in, goal for Rashford then haha. Both teams go into the break having scored goals less than 3 minutes apart. 1-1 at the half.
And we are back to the short corners. This one gets floated in but nothing comes of it. Darmian at left back for United has been better than Blind, he’s had his moments, like the one that led to the Stoke opener but he’s been a lot better. Lukaku’s lucky to get away without a yellow card after a foul on Joe Allen. Stoke have been more attacking in this second half. Interesting fact, United spent a grand total of 11 days at the top of the table since Sir Alex retired, this season they’ve already spent 27 days at the top, if the result holds, they stay top on goal difference with Manchester City. Unless Huddersfield win by more than 7. Lukaku, he shoots, rebounds of Butland, Lukaku picks it up and puts it in the back of the net. at just 24 years of age he has 150 goals in the EPL. Darmian made a fantastic run to set up that goal. He’s been quality today. United scored an immediate equalizer in the first half and Stoke have done the same in the second, Choupo-Moting has his second. Jose’s getting his test that he wanted for his team. Unfortunate for De Gea who made a fantastic save just seconds earlier. Will Jose get some magic off the bench again today? His subs have scored in 3 consecutive games this season. Martial and Mata look like they are getting ready to come on. After the second Stoke game went in, the game has really opened up. Herrera and Rashford coming off for Mata and Martial, looks like Pogba is gonna sit further back now, Mata going out wide. Berahino coming on for Jese for Stoke City. Lingard comes on for Mkhitaryan. The game ends at 2-2, United bottled it, should have won that. No team in the EPL is perfect now.
Man of the Match
Choupo-Moting had 6 shots, 2 goals and put in a solid shift defensively. great performance.
Manchester United host FC Basel in the Champions League and then Everton in the league while Stoke face Newcastle away in a match that should be a cracker.
Manchester City vs Liverpool (9/9/2017)
The must watch game of the weekend is thankfully the first game of the weekend. Finally we have EPL action after the international break. Both teams will look to begin what is going to be a hectic September in a successful manner. Firmino and Coutinho need to be assessed by Liverpool after the later played his first game of the season while on international duty. City will look to continue their great run of just 1 loss in 8 at home versus Liverpool. City have 13 wins, 9 draws and just 1 loss in their last 23 games at home in the EPL, however, the Liverpool faithful will be licking their lips as City only have 6 clean sheets in those games. Should be a mouthwatering fixture with a bunch of goals, I predict a goal draw.
Arsenal vs Bournemouth (9/9/2017)
Oh Arsenal, whatever is going to happen with the gunners? They haven’t lost 3 games in the EPL in a row since January 2012 and it will be interesting to see if that happens here. They have beaten Bournemouth in all 3 games they have played at the Emirates. It will be curious to see how Arsenal line up, will Alexis start with Lacazette for the first time? Will they have actual center backs playing in position? Who will replace the Ox in the lineup? Bournemouth have yet to get a win this season, while Arsenal just have the 3 points from the 1st week of the season. A juicy relegation battle? (that’s a joke). I predict a draw, I honestly don’t know how Arsenal will perform.
Everton vs Tottenham Hotspurs (9/9/2017)
“Woo-hoo August is over,” sings Harry Kane, want to bet that he will get a goal this weekend? Everton have the second-best home record for all EPL teams in 2017, second only to Spurs. While Spurs roll into town on a 3-away game win streak. After having dropped crucial points at home two weeks in a row, and woeful home form at Wembley, Spurs need a win at Everton. Everton on the other hand, would love a win against Tottenham, a team from the top 6 from last season, something they would like to break into. Both teams sit on 4 points currently, 5 points away from table toppers Manchester United. Should be a cracking game, I expect a goal at the least from Harry Kane, should see a goal for both sides and I think Spurs will get the win here.
Leicester City vs Chelsea (9/9/2017)
Leicester have kept just 1 clean sheet versus Chelsea in 11 games, Vardy is in fine form under Craig Shakespeare and we could see a goal or 2 from him. Chelsea haven’t won a game on the road in the month of September in 4 long seasons. Chelsea have corrected their poor performance from the 1st week and have come back with 2 wins. Chelsea have 2 new signings in their squad, including former Leicester player Danny Drinkwater. I expect a decent outing for both sides, Chelsea know they are off the pace, 3 points behind Manchester United who are currently leading the pack and don’t have a tricky fixture just yet. I think Chelsea will get a win here but just barely as they have to rotate due to the upcoming Champions League fixture.
Stoke City vs Manchester United (9/9/2017)
Table toppers Man Utd visit Stoke in the late fixture on Saturday, they have yet to concede a goal and have scored a league high 10 goals. Henrik Mkhitaryan has 5 assists so far and is their most lethal weapon. HOWEVER, Stoke have not lost in 4 home games against United, their last loss coming back in 2013. United go into this game as firm favorites and are one of the best teams in England right now. Expect them to rotate as they have European football to look forward to this week. A simple outing, win for Manchester United.
Chelsea vs Everton
Chelsea 2 – 0 Everton
Chelsea started the game with Cesc Fabregas returning from suspension while Everton started with Sandro Ramirez and Sigurdsson leading the lines. Chelsea had a solid game with goals from Morata and Fabregas. Morata in the process became the first Premier League player to get a goal and an assist in his first 2 home games as a new signing.
A decent outing by the Blues while Everton struggled, maybe they do not have the depth to cope with the EPL and Europa League? They need to do better while Conte has claimed that they may still make a few signings.
Man of The Match
Morata had a goal and assist in his second game at the Bridge and was fantastic.
Chelsea are away to Leicester while Everton host Spurs.
Liverpool vs Arsenal (Watched by NAFB)
Liverpool 4 – 0 Arsenal
Liverpool made a surprising change with Karius coming in for Mignolet, Klopp claiming he was resting the big Belgian. Alexis came in for Lacazette who was dropped to bench, could this be an audition for Alexis as he still hasn’t signed a new contract at Arsenal. Holding returns in defense while Mustafi is on the bench as rumors of his exit still circle. The teams walk out to You’ll Never Walk Alone, the Kop are in full voice. Sevilla, Maribor and Spartak Moscova are going to get this during those special Anfield nights.
Liverpool have all the momentum early in this game, Salah has too much pace for the Kop defense to handle. Can has been running the show in midfield for Liverpool and he isn’t afraid to take risks and that could be the difference. Speaking of Can he makes a lovely run into the box to Cech’s right, crosses it in and Salah can’t beat Cech who makes an amazing save. The Arsenal defense are struggling here, Liverpool keep coming back at them. Alexis looks like the most lively Gunner out there, running down all the defenders. Arsenal are lucky to be level right now. Fantastic tackle by Holding to ensure Mane doesn’t get away and to ensure he doesn’t give away a penalty. Can again involved, makes a good tackle to deny Alexis a run into the box. There it is, Firmino gets a headed goal for the Kop, Liverpool have look the better side and finally they get rewarded in the 17th minute. Fantastic ball in by right back Gomez. Firmino’s first home goal in the EPL since he last scored against Arsenal in March. Wenger needs to do something here or Liverpool could score a few more here. Great work by Henderson, nicks the ball of Ozil and plays a quick 1-2, gets away a shot on goal but cannot do anything with it. Karius gets a pass back and tries to play it but Welbeck is quick to him, ball bounces away to a Liverpool defender to the relief of Karius. Arsenal’s best chances have come through Welbeck who is about to get booked for a foul on Moreno. Yellow. It was late but the foul was caused by Moreno’s foot following through his kick. Unfortunate for Welbeck. Gomez goes in the book now for a foul on Aaron Ramsey. Arsenal need more defensive support from their wing backs, too much room for Liverpool’s pacey wingers. Salah puts the ball in the net but he’s offside, doesn’t count. Good finish though. Arsenal are really poor right now, doesn’t look like there is a loud voice in the back line to lead this Arsenal defense. Salah beats the back line again and he’s offside again, Arsenal are testing their luck here. Welbeck ruins a good run of play for Arsenal by shoving Matip to the ground, the former Manchester United man needs to be careful, he is on a yellow card. A beauty for Mane, the same can be said regarding his celebration. Assist by Firmino. Surely Arsenal will start committing now? Xhaka gets a yellow card for a foul in the build up to the goal. Arsenal have had a few shoots on goal but nothing solid, no big efforts, Lacazette should be sent on at halftime. Liverpool are just seeing out the half now. Surely Alexis is going to look back at this half and want to leave? This Arsenal side needs reinforcements and it doesn’t look like there are any on the way. Xhaka fouls Can, he’s walking a tightrope now since he’s already been booked. At halftime, it’s all Liverpool, Arsenal need their French strikers to come off the bench and score if the one’s on the pitch can’t do it. Aaron Ramsey comes off for Francis Coquelin. Looks like Arsenal have gone to a back 4, they need to get a couple of goals in the next 45. Karius has yet another moment with the ball at his feet, amusing considering the camera pans directly to Mignolet sitting in the stands with his suit on. Teasing free kick by Salah comes off Can, but the refs give a corner, interesting considering there was no Arsenal player near that ball. Surely it is game over now, Salah makes a terrific run down the pitch and puts it past Cech. Nothing the former Chelsea man can do in that situation. Liverpool have been fantastic today, doesn’t look like they played midweek, Arsenal in fact look tired. It looks like Alexis and the Ox are making way for Giroud and Lacazette. Could this be the last time we see Alexis in an Arsenal jersey? Could this be the last time we see the Ox in an Arsenal jersey? Both have been linked with a move away. Arsenal Fan TV is gonna be absolute fire tonight. 66 minutes in and Arsenal have no shots on target. Fantastic run by Mane, comes inches from scoring his second of the game only to be cleared of the line. Moreno looks like he’s hurt, Coquelin came in late on him. If this is a serious injury it would be really unfortunate for the Spaniard considering he has had a fantastic start to the season. He is walking on his own now as the physios escort him off, he looks to be ok now. Holding goes in late on Henderson, conceding a free kick and earning himself a yellow in the process. Sturridge is being sent on for Mane who has earned the rest, been fantastic tonight. And we have 4, Sturridge heads it in far post, Salah with the assist, Man of the match for sure? Some Arsenal fans are heading out now, they’ve seen enough. Firmino goes off for James Milner. Alexis on the bench looks really depressed and like he doesn’t want to be there. Arsenal haven’t been this awful since United put 8 past them about 5 or 6 years ago. Things need to change. This is a world cup year and players like Ozil need to do better to show they deserve to be on the flight to Russia. Can goes off for Grujic, fantastic display by the German who will be competing for a world cup call up against Ozil. Wenger will be hoping that their fortunes change and they go on a long unbeaten run after this, don’t forget, last season they lost on opening day to Liverpool and didn’t get beaten again for a long time. Full time, 4-0. Arsenal’s players look dejected.
I hate to agree with the likes of DT, Troopz and the others on Arsenal Fan TV but the for the sake of one of the biggest football clubs in England, I hope Wenger leaves. They have 2 weeks to fix things but there isn’t enough time left in the window to bring talent in to fix their issues. Liverpool on the other hand did a great job, their next test against City will show us just how good they are, if they can do a job defensively or if Arsenal were just not good enough. With 3 points in 3 games, Arsenal go into the international break sitting 6 points off 1st place and they find themselves in 16th, obviously a position they will not be in for long. Cech has done a good job in goal to ensure it was just 4-0. Klopp will be happy that selecting Karius wasn’t the worst decision as he manages a clean sheet.
Man of The Match
Mo Salah had a fantastic outing, Goal and an assist, other players that deserved a shout were Mane, Firmino and Can.
Arsenal are home to Bournemouth while Liverpool face a trip to Manchester to face City.
Tottenham Hotspurs vs Burnley (Watched in bits by NAFB)
Tottenham Hotspurs 1 – 1 Burnley
Harry Kane starts for Spurs, looking to break his August taboo while Vokes leads the line for Burnley. Son makes his first start of the season for Spurs after making 2 appearances off the bench this season. New signings on the bench for both sides, Chris Wood for Burnley and Sanchez for Spurs.
Not much to report early in the game, both teams have had soft chances, a couple of long throws into the Spurs box. Son makes a run into the box but he’s offside. Still nothing significant from London, 0-0. Harry Kane has a chance right on the edge of the 6 yard box, a look at a calendar should tell you what happens next, yup, it’s August, he missed it. Spurs want a free kick on the edge of the box for a hand ball but the ref is not interested. 0-0 at Halftime, Spurs need a goal, Burnley should be happy with their performance. There it is, Alli gets a goal from a corner that ping pongs around the box. Harry Kane has another shot at goal that goes wide. He really needs this month to end so he can get back to his scoring ways. Son makes way for Sissoko for Spurs. Kane has yet another shot on goal that is saved by Tom Heaton. Oh when will it end? Harry Kane has yet another shot that is saved. Lloris makes a last ditch tackle to try and ensure they keep a clean sheet, successfully but that was close.
Spurs go into the international break hoping that Harry Kane can find his mojo again, 4 points from 3 games the start shows just how heavily they rely on Harry Kane, they need some back up for him. Oh no, Wembley is just not the place Spurs want to be, Burnley have the equalizer through new signing Chris Wood who gets a debut goal. Spurs switched off and Burnley made them pay. Full time and it is 1-1, Spurs have yet to win at Wembley.
Man of The Match
Alli’s goal was the difference and while Harry Kane is struggling, Alli stepping up is massive for the white half of North London.
Spurs visit Everton while Burnley host Crystal Palace in a fixture they are expected to cruise through.
Bournemouth vs Manchester City (Watched by NAFB)
Bournemouth 1 – 2 Manchester City
The big news pre game was that Aguero would not be starting, with Walker suspended, Pep switched up formations and went for a 4-3-3 while Bournemouth started with a 5 at the back. New signings Mendy, Silva and Danillo are all starting for City.
Charlie Daniels scored a screamer to open the scoring for Bournemouth. However, the next 30 minutes was all City. Jesus scored his first of the season and showed that Pep made the right call starting him over Aguero.
At 1-1 the second half was a very cagey affair with City picking up 5 and Bournemouth picking up 3 yellow cards, in addition to the 1 from the first half. Aguero came off the bench but did not have much of an impact on the score line. Lots of stoppages in play with 5 minutes added on at the end. Bournemouth effectively parked the bus at the end of the game and then challenges started flying. Tempers are rising. Busy night for Mr. Mike Dean
Can you believe It, Sterling scores a goal in the 7th minute of stoppage time and this is pathetic from the supporters. The police is involved now and the fans are just a huge disgrace here. 10 yellows so far and now Sterling is off for celebrating in the crowd. Things are ugly here and we could see more bookings. Sterling refusing to go off and this could get worst for him. Now we’ve reached 10 minutes of stoppage time and Stones is on for Silva. Everyone is up for Bournemouth. That’s it. Game over. Ugly, very ugly game. 10 mins of stoppage time. A red card, I think we had 11 yellow cards? Still not sure as everyone is trying to figure out the last 10 minutes. City are VERY lucky to get a win here.
Man of the Match
An absolute screamer deserves a nod and the fact that he had a fantastic outing earns Charlie Daniels the Man of the Match award.
The EPL is away next weekend due to the International Break so City don’t play again till the 9th of September when they host Liverpool while Bournemouth face a trip the Arsenal on the same day.
Manchester United vs Leicester City (Watched by NAFB)
Manchester United 2 – 0 Leicester City
Man of The Match
Kasper Schmeichel was the reason it was just 2-0, a massive penalty save and a few big saves in the first half kept the Foxes in the tie. Phil Jones and Harry Maguire deserve a shout out as well.
Leicester are home to Chelsea on the 9th of September, after the international break while United visit Stoke City on the 9th as well.
Bournemouth vs Manchester City 26th August
City roll into their game versus Bournemouth as the firm favorites. City will probably use their new signing Mendy for the first time as Kyle Walker is suspended, City will also be without Gundogan who is out injured. Bournemouth is without Francis, Stanislas and Callum Wilson. This should be a simple outing for the Blue half of Manchester and expect them to walk away with 3 points.
Manchester United vs Leicester City 26th August
United will look to carry their blinding form into their third game of the season versus Leicester. Although this game could be a lot harder than previous ties versus West Ham and Swansea City. Expect goals in this game. We could see United concede their first goal of the season and I honestly think it could happen. United are still without Ashley Young, Luke Shaw and Marcos Rojo. New (?) signing Zlatan Ibrahimović is still out inured and will not be back for at least 2 more months. Robert Huth and Iborra look like they will miss out for Leicester City. Should be a win for Manchester United but not as simple as previous weeks.
Chelsea vs Everton 27th August
Chelsea face an Everton side that have looked good so far this season, Wayne Rooney looks reborn and will look to score in his 3rd consecutive game. Chelsea have just Eden Hazard out injured while Everton have Gueye, Klassen and Ramirez out injured. Ross Barkley isn’t fit yet either. Chelsea head into this game having got an impressive record after home defeats, they last lost two back to back home games in November 2011. They have yet to win a home game this season but expect them to open that account this weekend. Gary Cahill is still suspended for the Blues while Fabregas could make his return after suspension. Everton have lost just 1 game out of 11 EPL games (W6 D4) against the team that won the league in the previous season.
Liverpool vs Arsenal 27th August
Liverpool host Arsenal on Super Sunday in a crucial tie for both teams. Liverpool have Can and Alexander-Arnold back from injury while want away Coutinho is still out injured. Arsenal have Alexis back but does he want to still play for the gunners? Koscienly is back from suspension and that will help a shaky Arsenal defense. Liverpool haven’t won 3 EPL games against Arsenal since May 1998 and will be looking to get a 3rd straight win. Historically this tie has produced the most goals past the 90th minute in EPL history with 17. Liverpool will also want to keep a clean sheet as they haven’t had 4 straight at home since September 2013. Should be a high scoring affair as that seems to be the Liverpool mentality at the moment, both teams are struggling with defensive issues and I think it could be a goal draw.
Tottenham vs Burnley 27th August
Spurs are still without Danny Rose and Erik Lamela while Burnley will be without striker Jon Walters. Spurs go into this fixture on the back of a tough UCL draw where they were placed into the group of death. They know that they need to do well in the league and they will be looking to win a game at the New Wembley. Last time Burnley visited London they got 3 points off defending champions Chelsea and they would like to get another point or even 3 on their visit to the biggest stadium in England. I honestly think that Spurs might get away with this one and get a win.
